October 2025 Wrap-Up

Happy November!

I hope everyone had a satisfying spooky month! I had a horrible reading month in October 😅 I only finished 1 audiobook. It was a pretty great audiobook, but I had some high hopes to finish a bunch of spooky reads and I only finished 1. Granted, I did have quite a few events and appointments happening, so that’s what stole my reading time, aside from my editing projects. One of the highlights of October was that I learned how to taxidermy a rat! I joined a workshop to taxidermy a rat and dress it up like a vampire at the Telus Spark. I had such a fun time and I even went all by myself. My friend and I also did the ghost painting trend as a Halloween craft. What was the highlight of your spooky month? Let me know in the comments below 👻

Editing Update: I TRADEMARKED MY BUSINESS NAME 🥳 I am officially Nessa’s Lair! Anyhoo, I finished 3 projects this month, all really fun proofreads. I’m exciting for my upcoming projects as well, especially a certain dark romance I’ll get to work on in December. If you ever have any editing questions or have fun stories you’re working on, contact me 😊

My Library

No reads in progress from my library at the moment. Everything is just partially read ARCs.

Netgalley e-ARCs

I’m currently in the middle of a graphic novel about healthy relationships. It’s a very fun read so far and has lots of great tips!

Other (e)ARCs

I SWEAR, November will finally be the month where I finish The Spellshop!

Audiobooks

Blood on Her Tongue by Johanna van Veen

Review:

⚠️TW for gruesome gore, murder, and adultery.⚠️

We all know I love a good sapphic vampire book, so I was very excited to read this. This story puts an interesting spin on vampires and makes them more of a parasite taking over someone’s body, instead of being an undead person. I thought that was pretty neat and creative! I loved the gothic atmosphere of this story as well. The sisterly relationship between Sarah and Lucy was so well done, especially with how much Lucy was willing to do and sacrifice for her sister. I thought she was a tiny bit whiny in the middle, but she redeemed herself by the end of the book. This book isn’t as sensual as other books like Hungerstone, but that’s because it focuses more on the sisterly bond. In terms of gore, this book definitely grossed me out. I got visceral feelings of disgust from the descriptions in this book, especially with everything related to eyeballs. I can handle pretty much anything, but anything to do with squishing an eyeball and I’m a goner. I was absolutely obsessed though. I would definitely recommend checking this book out, and I’m excited to listen to other audiobooks by this author!

4.5/5⭐

I hope everyone has a super fun month leading up to the holiday season! Get all your reading in before reading goals reset in a couple months!

Happy reading!
