Who Am I?

About the Blogger:

My name is Vanessa and I’m from Calgary. I started this blog as a quarantine project and it’s become a place where I post monthly book reviews and recipes I’ve tried. I’ve also had lots of fun doing blog post collabs with @princessreadsalot and @sushisrainbow. I already have an Instagram account, Nessa’s Lair, where I post book and food reviews. If you have any books you’d like me to review or recipes you think I would enjoy making, head over to my “Contact Me” page and send me a message.

Some other things I enjoy are dog watching, gardening, and hiking. My gardening goal every year is to grow a bigger pumpkin than the year before. So far, my biggest pumpkin has been the size of a honeydew 😂

Welcome to my lair 😉

About the Editor:

I’ve always been an avid reader ever since I was a child—I would be the kid who borrowed eighty books at a time from the library. After getting a Bachelor of History from the University of Calgary, I took a marketing and public relations certificate course from U of C in order to expand my skill set. I took all the editing classes available for this course and I was hooked. I wanted to build a career in the publishing world. I also had the opportunity to learn more about publishing through my internship with Parliament House Press. I am also now a member of ACES: The Society for Editing, and I’m a contractor for Tessera Editorial. After gaining more experience, I decided to establish my own editing business.

Manuscript Wishlist:

I am mainly a fiction editor, but I am open to the occasional non-fiction project if I’m super passionate about the topic. I edit manuscripts for audiences of all ages, specifically from children to new adults. My favorite genres to edit are fantasy, romance, and horror. Some things I love seeing in books include: strong female characters, queer characters, the found family trope, fantastical worldbuilding, fairytale retellings, spooky vibes, and great banter.

If you think I’d be a good fit for you, apply for editing. Also, visit my “Editing Services” page for more information on my rates and the types of edits I offer.
