April 2026 Wrap-Up
Happy almost-June!
I’m finally getting around to posting my April wrap-up even though it’s super delayed 😅 I managed to read 4 books in April, which I’m super happy with because I started so many other reads which means I’ll finish a ton more in May.
Editing Update: I finished 4 projects in April and received some exciting updates on upcoming projects. I’m fully booked until July! If you have a manuscript that is getting to the editing stage, I’d love to hear about the synopsis! If you would like more info, check out my Editing Services page.
My Library
Strange Buildings by Uketsu
Review:
I was absolutely HOOKED by this story. I love forensic documentaries and mysteries where different elements all get tied together nicely, so this book was my absolute JAM. I was a bit hesitant to read it at first because I heard it wasn’t as good as the first books in the series, but my library had a ton of copies displayed at the entrance and that persuaded me. I started reading it that very night and binged 120 pages in one sitting. I think that goes to show how much I loved this story. I loved all the different buildings and how they all had a different mystery and/or crime element to them. I loved noticing all the names that popped up in each story and how items would reappear throughout. It was so fun to put everything together at the end. I wasn’t a huge fan of the cult aspect at the end, but I appreciated how flawlessly everything was tied together. I will definitely be checking out the other 2 books in this series!

Temple of the Tentacle Priests by Ava Wilde
Review:
I initially read this for the Smutathon in February, but got distracted by other books and only finished this one in April. I chose this from Netgalley because my coworker was like “wtf is this tentacle book.” I was intrigued by the synopsis and the cover, so I was excited to read it. However, I ended up getting bored halfway through and skimmed it to get it over with. I loved the analytical aspect of the story and how the FMC, Poppy, always logs her reactions to her sexual encounters like a scientist. The spicy scenes with the various creatures were great! I didn’t feel any emotional connection to Poppy’s attempted relationship with Father Calder, though, so that could be why I skimmed the last bit. I really loved the author’s note at the end of the book explaining her plot choices and the octopi mating arc. That was a great addition to help readers learn more about how the story came to be. Overall, I did enjoy the story and the spicy bits, but it just wasn’t hooking me as much as I expected it to.

You Can Rest Here by Sarah Nilson
Review:
This is such a heartwarming read about accepting yourself for who you are right now and accepting that there’s no such thing as perfection. It’s a great book to remind you that you can accept that failure will still happen, and you should be grateful for what you have. The self-acceptance bits of the book were very quotable. The end is a hodgepodge of the author’s comic panels. I really liked the author’s note at the beginning of the book. It’s a very inspiring read and I’d definitely keep it as a coffee table book.
4.5/5⭐
Marrying the Dark Knight for her Money Vol. 1 by Suoh and Sometime
Review:
This was such a heartwarming manga, for the most part. I loved how Clarice found out that the Dark Knight was actually a lady and proceeded to do everything in her power to make her fall in love with her. The situations Clarice gets herself into were low-key comical but sweet, especially her cooking and trying to save the maids from quitting. The one panel during Clarice’s wedding to the Dark Knight when they’re supposed to kiss the bride was hilarious and perfectly expressive. The art was so fun and the expressions were great. I would definitely continue this series because I’m so curious how and how long it’ll take Clarice to win the Dark Knight’s heart.

Other (e)ARCs
I have a few books in progress right now and I’ll probably finish them in May.
Audiobooks
I’m currently listening to the “Pucking Around” and the third book of “Beware of Chicken.” I’m loving both books so far and highly recommend them!
That’s a wrap for April, and stay tuned for my May wrap-up which will probably be posted within the next day or so 😂 Also, let me know what your fav read of the month was in the comments below!
Happy reading!
