I didn’t end up finishing the series because it wasn’t really my type of story, but definitely check it out if you love complicated love stories and love triangles that have some paranormal elements! Also some major plot twists that you will not see coming!

🌟Spoilers in Book 2 so skip the review section if you want to avoid the spoilers!🌟

Brambles Book 1

Synopsis:

bramble bk 1.jpg

Nineteen-year-old Sidney Philips lives in the shadow of her grandmother, a wealthy socialite with towering expectations and a controlling hand. She’s expected to either find a respectable career and marry well, or to simply marry well. Believing she has no choice, Sidney walks the path laid out for her until a destined meeting with a terrifying ghost turns her world upside down. All at once, Sidney is at the center of a curse that has nothing (and everything) to do with her. She's faced with a terrible choice: marry a ghost and give up her freedom forever, or send him away and force generations to suffer. But, oh, if only it were that simple. Meddling hands have complicated the curse, making a difficult choice impossible. Now, two ghostly men stand before Sidney. Choosing one will mean oblivion for the other. The clock is ticking. A choice must be made. Someone must suffer.

Do you want to hear a ghost story?

Brambles is a coming-of-age story that’s a mash-up of paranormal romance and Sleeping Beauty lore; a delicious blend of drama and action with just a touch of humor that's perfect for both YA and NA (New Adult) readers.

Review:

This was a pretty wild read. I loved the characters especially Zandie and Aziah. Aurora/Sidney was a fun character as well and I loved reading her inner monologues. The interaction between characters was like a dramatic trainwreck (I mean this in the best way possible) and it just made me want to keep on reading. There is also one hell of a sassy cat!

The premise of the story with Sidney having to choose between 2 ghosts to marry was very fascinating. I found this book to be a very quick and easy read. The ending of this book was a big surprise to me and I was not expecting it at all. There were also little twists throughout the plot that kept me guessing as to how the story would end.

I don't think this is much of a Sleeping Beauty retelling though because the only similar aspects between the 2 stories is the name Aurora and the thorn motif.

Thorns Book 2

Synopsis:

Sidney's cursed. Two ghostly men stand before her. Choosing one will send the other to oblivion, but choosing neither will cause generations to suffer.

Sidney thought the curse was her biggest problem until she found out her dad is an incubus that's hellbent on controlling her life and the curse at any cost. She was lucky enough to escape him along with her ghostly suitors, Reginald and Dorian, but she's not out of danger yet.

In retaliation, the incubus has kidnapped Sidney's best friend, Aziah. Along with Dorian, Reginald, and her Bastmau (feline protector), Sidney embarks on a quest to find Aziah, but the closer they get to the incubus, the more volatile Sidney's behavior becomes. Something is very wrong with Sidney. . . .

Soon, Sidney’s faced with a new choice. A choice that would make her truly powerful—the choice to embrace her succubus side. What if Sidney didn't have to end the curse by choosing one ghost and ending the other, or sending them both away ensuring the suffering of generations? What if becoming a demon gave her the power to change her destiny?

Along with the dark and charming Dorian, Sidney’s about to let loose, explore her sexuality, and totally lose control.

Review: 🌟Spoiler Alert🌟

I ended up skimming through the final half of this book because there’s so much that happens and it’s just a lot. Also it’s really fast paced! First there’s the original curse from book 1, then it turns out Sidney is a succubus and now she’s fighting the urges to not become full demon, then there’s a witch coven and Egyptian heritage involved. A lot happens in this book so it’s like non-stop action. I wasn’t expecting the succubus turn at all so it made for a great plot twist, but after that I felt like the story took a whole other tangent and now there was a whole other villain and more plot that needed to be resolved. One of the things I liked about the book though were the characters. They were all pretty well written and had personalities and quirks that were fun to read about. Rax is definitely the star of the show though with all his sass 😂

Thicket Book 3

Synopsis:

Sidney's cursed. Two ghostly men stand before her. Choosing one will send the other to oblivion, but choosing neither will cause generations to suffer. . . .

Sidney died.
The end?
Oh, but this is a fairy tale, and the heroine can’t really die . . . can she?

Having been brought back to life by the Golden Dawn Coven, Sidney has vowed to turn from her succubus ways and end her incubus father, freeing herself to finally end the curse on her own terms. It would be so much easier, though, if her succubus side wasn’t constantly trying to make her kiss everyone. Along with the two ghosts from the curse, a beautiful pink-haired witch is after Sidney’s heart.

But things are changing . . . the coven has informed Sidney that because of her role in the curse she’s going to become an Apt—a messenger of the gods imbued with godly powers. She’ll be godly if she can defeat her demon side. This would be great news if it wasn’t tied to a ghastly vision of her own death at the hand of the incubus. Here’s hoping that visions can be wrong. . . .

In order to take hold of her destiny, Sidney is charged with exploring the Thicket—an otherworldly holding place for Reginald and Dorian, the ghosts attached to the curse. But Sidney's been warned: she could go crazy or get lost in the Thicket if she’s not careful. It’s a chance that Sidney has to take as the witches’ visions have shown that the Thicket holds the answer—not only to ending Sidney’s incubus father but maybe even to ending the curse without destroying either ghost.

Thicket is the fast-paced, heart-pounding ending to the Brambles Series, sure to leave readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page.

Are you ready for the end?
