February 2025 Wrap-Up

Happy March!

Is everyone finally ready for some spring weather after all this frigid cold we’ve been having? Our city had a fairly mild winter, but we had a severe cold snap for the majority of February where we essentially got all our winter weather bundled into that span of time. During that time, I barely got any reading done, but I did a ton of editing projects and tried numerous hot chocolates from the YYC Hot Chocolate Festival instead. I finished *drumroll please* exactly ONE book. Just one. I read it for the Smutathon that I participated in. Did any of y’all manage to get more reading done than me?

Editing Update: I’m so proud of myself because I managed to complete 4 edits during this month while working at my day job, spending time with friends and family, and trying all these hot chocolates. I completed 2 copyedits and 2 proofreads. I’m really enjoying all these isekai stories I’ve been working on, so if anyone has projects like this, coupled with some cozy vibes, please hit me up with your synopsis! I would love to hear more about your story. You can contact me at the bottom of this page here.

My Library

Morning Glory Milking Farm by C.M. Nascosta

Review:

I read this because it was one of the odd recs from my Smutathon group chat. I would definitely say don’t take this book seriously if you read it, because it’s just a wild ride of monster fun. There were quite a few spelling and grammar errors throughout the story. I didn’t mind those as much, but the time skips and disjointed flow of paragraphs really threw me off. Only because it was difficult to follow what was happening which took me out of the story. I loved the world-building for this story and am really curious what it would be like to live in a community like that. If I read other books in the series, I’d probably be reading them mostly for the world-building and adorable characters. I loved Rourke and thought he was such a sweetheart. He has his dominant moments, but was overall so loving toward the female MC. The concept of how they meet and where she works is quite strange, but very creative! Honestly, just so much kudos for the creativity of this book. I could also totally relate to Rourke’s love for dessert and loved the ending with the ice cream. On a side note, whenever I read bits with Geillis, I always pictured her as Geillis from Outlander. Overall, I would recommend this if you’re looking for a fun and strange spicy read.

3/5⭐

Netgalley eARCs

I didn’t realize Netgalley was removing their compatibility for Adobe files for Kobo e-readers, so I’m not sure how many of my eARCs I’ll be able to read at this point. I really don’t like reading books on my phone or computer screen, so we’ll see what happens. I have some great reads on there though, so I may just cave and read them on my phone 😅

Other (e)ARCs

I’ve started a couple ARCs from Tor, Simon & Schuster CA, and Frenzy Books, and I’m still reading The Spellshop, but I have fewer editing projects in March so I’ll probably be able to read a whole lot more. March will be my ARC month.

Audiobooks

I have around 20 minutes left in my audiobook of The Wild Huntress by Emily Lloyd-Jones, so I will definitely finish that one in March. I’m loving the story so far!
