Taro Milk Tea Smoothie

Taro Milk Tea Smoothie

Hiya foodies!

This week I attempted to make a taro root smoothie drink. I had some leftover taro root from our hot pot dinner and I really wanted to try making my own taro root bubble tea, minus the pearls. I did some research on recipes for the drink but it was so difficult to find one that didn’t use powdered taro. I ended up finding a couple recipes, so I just gathered some ideas and made my own. Here is the recipe for my version! Feel free to eyeball the amounts based on your preference and how much you would like to make. The measurements I used were just approximations so keep that in mind 😅

Ingredients:

(serves approximately 3 people)

  • 1/3 cup chopped and peeled taro root

  • 1/2 can condensed milk

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 2 cups milk

Steps:

  1. Boil the taro root until it’s soft.

  2. Puree or blend the taro root with the sugar.

  3. Add the condensed milk and milk and blend until everything is mixed and smooth.

  4. Pour and enjoy 😊

The pictures above look like milk but I swear this is the taro smoothie. My taro smoothie turned out really sweet so definitely put less or no sugar if you want it less sweet. The texture was also a bit creamy with tiny grains of taro. I didn’t really like this drink - probably because I don’t like taro to begin with LOL. But if you like taro then definitely try this out!

Happy drinking!
